-Director
Janallie Toomer is a committed educator and passionate entrepreneur who, after receiving an unexpected diagnosis for her child, opened a school in Florida City, Florida, in 2012. When asked about the inspiration behind opening Shepherd of God Christian Academy, she reflected on her child’s experience in the public school system. He missed quite a bit of school due to the illness of sickle cell anemia and, naturally, this caused him to fall behind. It became quickly apparent that his current educational facility was not as dedicated to him as much as he, and other children with disabilities, deserved. She opened Shepherd of God Christian Academy under the mission to serve a variety of students from all walks of life.
With over 12 years of experience in Education, she is fiercely adamant about providing each of her students the highest level of education they deserve and require for a fruitful future. Even with a full decade in Education under her belt, Mrs. Toomer wholeheartedly believes she was called upon by God to offer her love and knowledge to the underserved or disabled children of her community. In fact, she connects deeply with Bible verse Luke 12:48 which states, “To whom much is given, much will be required.” Mrs. Toomer works tirelessly to meet the needs of the children and staff members of her school, and she is unwavering in her compassion for each and every one of them.
Likewise, the staff at her school are dedicated to helping those who did not thrive well in the public school system, students with learning disabilities, and even students who are experiencing gaps in their Education. Mrs.Toomer is proud of the fact that each teacher and staff member in her school demonstrates a heightened sense of caring and dedication to the students they serve. Mrs. Toomer’s professional goal for her school is to instill the value within her students of a strong work ethic and to always leave the world better than how they found it. In addition, she strives to imprint a sense of emotional intelligence on all of her students so they may grow up to love and respect people from all walks of life.
-Assistant Principal
“Because of my love to teach young children is the reason I continued my journey in the field of early childhood education. After completing my education with Miami-Dade Junior College, with my AA/AS Certificates, I attended Nova Southeastern University to complete my BS Degree in early childhood and Elementary Education. I have always enjoyed teaching children the basics of life with kid songs and the fundamentals of reading and writing as they grow and develop in an environment they understand.”
